At the Koibatek Ogiek Women and Youth Network (KOWYN), we understand that bees are far more than just insects; they are the silent architects of our food security and the vital stewards of our ecosystem health. This year, for World Bee Day 2026, we joined forces with the Perkerra Environmental Group to celebrate under the theme: “Together for People and […]
For the Ogiek people, beekeeping is far more than an agricultural endeavor—it is our lifeline. It is a practice woven into the very fabric of our heritage, a deep-rooted way of life that we have protected for generations and continue to thrive in today. To honor this connection, we recently convened with the Tarakwet Tai Youth Group and the Kamara […]
At the Koibatek Ogiek Women and Youth Network (KOWYN), we believe that the most resilient seeds are those that carry the history of our land. Earlier this week, we took another meaningful step in our mission to reclaim our agricultural heritage by officially handing over a diverse collection of indigenous seeds to the Moiben Self-Help Group in Sigoro. On Saturday, April 24th, we took a significant step in this […]

This week, we gathered in the hills of Koibatek for an intensive, hands-on Value Addition Training session. […]
