New Partnership: KOWYN x Cultural Survival
Like every great organization, KOWYN does not walk alone.
We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Cultural Survival to advance agroecology transitioning and climate justice through our SEEDS OF CHANGE Project!
Cultural Survival is an Indigenous-led NGO and U.S. registered non-profit that advocates for Indigenous Peoples’ rights and has supported Indigenous communities’ self-determination, cultures, and political resilience, since 1972. Their mission and vision align with KOWYN’s journey making this a revolutionary step.
Within the partnership, KOWYN was awarded the Keepers of the Earth Fund (KOEF). This is an Indigenous-led fund within Cultural Survival, which is designed to support Indigenous Peoples’ community advocacy and development projects.
We hit the ground running with fruit tree planting activity at Seguton Comprehensive School this week following our new synergy. We procured the seedlings from Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service – Kephis . The event was not just about planting trees; it was about empowering pupils with knowledge about agroecology and environmental stewardship.
Therefore, by caring for these fruit trees, they are contributing to a sustainable future for the Ogiek People and gaining essential skills in sustainability transitions.
