At the Koibatek Ogiek Women and Youth Network (KOWYN), we believe that the transformation of a community begins with the empowerment of its women. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting an intensive Indigenous Women Leadership Training for the incredible Visoi Tabut Women Group—a powerful community of Ogiek women dedicated to shaping their own destiny.

Building Foundations for Change

This training program was designed to move beyond traditional workshops, focusing instead on the core pillars of personal and community development. With the generous support of the FIMI-Ayni Fund, we provided a space for these inspiring leaders to sharpen their skills in:

• Decision-Making: Equipping women with the analytical tools to participate effectively in community governance and policy discussions.
• Self-Leadership: Fostering the inner discipline and clarity needed to navigate complex challenges while maintaining a vision for the future.
• Self-Confidence: Breaking through systemic barriers to ensure every Ogiek woman feels entitled to her voice, her space, and her potential.
