At the Koibatek Ogiek Women and Youth Network (KOWYN), we recognize that true resilience begins at home. While our work often takes us into the forests and fields to secure our food systems, we are equally committed to securing the fundamental building block of life: clean, safe drinking water.

On Saturday, April 24th, we took a significant step in this mission by distributing water purifiers to Ogiek women in Maji Mazuri. This distribution represents more than just a donation of equipment; it is a vital investment in the long-term health and vitality of our community.

The Impact of Clean Water

For many families in our region, access to clean water is a constant challenge. By providing these purifiers, we are directly addressing several critical areas of community well-being:

• Disease Prevention: Providing the tools for effective water purification immediately reduces the prevalence of waterborne illnesses. Protecting our families from these preventable diseases is the most direct way to ensure our community stays strong and productive.
• Easing the Domestic Burden: In Ogiek households, women carry the heavy responsibility of caregiving and domestic management.
