KOWYN at National Indigenous Women Conference 2026 Isiolo Kenya.
The Koibatek Ogiek Women and Youth Network (KOWYN) is honored to be part of the 12th Annual National Indigenous Women Conference 2026 in Isiolo County, bringing together Indigenous women, leaders, community representatives, organizations, partners, and allies from across Kenya.
This year’s conference is being held under the theme: “Rangelands and Pastoralists: Lands in Motion, Women as Stewards of Knowledge and the Future.”
For KOWYN, being part of this important gathering is an opportunity to learn, share experiences, build connections, and strengthen our collective voice as Indigenous women and communities.
Inspired by Indigenous Women’s Resilience
We are inspired by the knowledge, experiences, and resilience shared by Indigenous women from different communities across Kenya, and by their continued role as custodians of knowledge, culture, land, and the future of their communities.
The conference is a reminder that Indigenous women carry centuries of wisdom about the lands they steward, and that their leadership is essential to any conversation about rangelands, pastoralism, and the future of Kenya’s ecosystems.
Bringing the Ogiek Voice to the Table
We are proud to bring our experiences from the Ogiek community and equally excited to learn from others. Every community holds unique knowledge and every story shared at this gathering strengthens the mosaic of Indigenous voices shaping the future.
The knowledge and connections gained at the conference will continue to strengthen our work with Indigenous women and youth long after the event closes.
Gratitude to the Organizers
We appreciate Samburu Women Trust and all the Indigenous women, organizations, and partners creating this important space for learning, solidarity, and collective action. Platforms like this do not happen by accident, they are built by people who believe that when Indigenous women come together, everything changes.
When Indigenous women come together, knowledge grows, voices become stronger, and communities move forward.
